Issue: No. 63 Dated March 20-26, 2003.
Online Accessibility: http://weekly.ahram.org.eg/2003/630/re2.htm
Abstract:
This is a response to an editorial in the Palestinian newspaper Al-Ayyam, by the editor and former PLO negotiator, Akram Haniyya, explaining the reasons for embarking by Palestinian leadership on the road of reform, including the decision to appoint a Palestinian prime minister (PM). Citing Haniyya’s opinion that the appointment of a PM with jurisdictions and responsibilities is a part of the Road-Map to end the occupation and pave the way to negotiations based on a two-state solution, the author states that Haniyya is reflecting the political philosophy of his mentor and the Palestinian PM-in-waiting, Mahmoud Abbass or Abu-Mazen. The author also discusses the ideas of Abbass who leads a stream within Fatah that believes in reducing factional powers and exposing Sharon’s stupidity.

Title: Raise Your Voices Against War: No Blood for Oil
URL: http://www.web.net/sworker/En/SW2002/387-03-oil.html
Abstract: Very informative article, presenting the Real BACKGROUND OF IRAQ WAR and imperialist interests of the United States President George W. Bush behind waging a war on Iraq. It is mentioned that the emergence of oil as a major commodity in the mid 19th century, seven major oil corporations, including one British, one Dutch-British and five American, came to control the world oil supplies. When oil is discovered in the Middle East after World War One, the seven sisters, backed by Anglo-American imperialism, moved in and bribed their way into positions where they controlled this oil. This scenario is changed in 1959, when Venezuela, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Iraq, together formed the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) to wrest this wealth from the Seven Sisters. Fearing a unified Middle East dictating the terms of oil supplies, the American policy on Middle east changed rapidly, which finally manifested in the 2003 Iraq War. ..
It presents real historical facts.. every one should know
